# How GenderFlip works

## Steps

1. Sign in with email or Google. An account is required to generate.
2. Confirm you are an adult and that you own the photo or have permission to use it.
3. Upload one photo (JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, up to 5 MB) and pick a mode: gender swap, age look, or cosplay.
4. Wait about 10 to 20 seconds. Cosplay HD takes around 2 minutes.
5. View, download or share the result.

## Halloween costumes and makeup

For Halloween, open the [Halloween costume generator](https://www.genderflip.org/ai-halloween-costume-generator#generator) and choose Halloween Vampire or Night Witch. These Cosplay presets change costume, hair and cosmetic makeup together while asking the model to preserve your identity. ## Photos that work best

- One person, facing the camera.
- Good, even lighting.
- No sunglasses, heavy filters or objects covering the face.
- The clearer the face, the closer the match.

## When a photo cannot be processed

The image model refuses some photos. When that happens GenderFlip says so, refunds the credit, and asks for a different photo: a clear, well-lit photo of one adult, fully clothed. Trying the same photo again gives the same outcome.

Uploads and results also pass automated content checks. Content that breaks the [Acceptable Use Policy](https://www.genderflip.org/acceptable-use) is blocked and the credit is refunded.
